A country kitchen cabinet with ventilated upper storage. During the 1950's & 60's, it was not uncommon for the Chinese to paint their furniture bright colors to offset their oppressed lives and drab domestic interiors. The original lacquer finish (black) is still visible below the ochre paint color.
