This elaborate "Suntiang" is worn by Minangkabau brides in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Each Suntiang is decorated with a collection of flowers, birds and leaves designed to sparkle and tremble with any head movement. Minangkabau wedding ceremonies showcase highly elaborate silk costumes that are worn by the bride and groom on one of their five wedding days. In their elegant garb, the couple are King and Queen for the day, literally "sitting in state" on piles of decorative pillows. During this event, the bride decorates her costume with a large number of gold necklaces and bracelets and the elaborate Suntiang. This headdress is mounted on a black wire stand. One of a kind.
