This bird, called the hong in Thailand, is a mythological creature that is considered the most graceful and elegant of all the animals in Thai mythology. The bird, with its swan-like long neck and luxuriously flowing flame-like tail, graces many Thai monasteries. This hand carved wood sculpture would have been mounted on the center ridgeline of the monastery roof or perched on top of a pole on the roof. The bell hanging from its beak would have gently rang when windy. (note: price listed is for each item)
