Celebrated for designs that are light in spirit and flexible in application, Marco Maran drew inspiration from the Bertoia wire collection to design X3, an energetic chair suited to both residential and institutional spaces. An accomplishment of engineering and material technology, X3 is constructed using a pioneering method of dual-injecting tinted polycarbonate with a Desmopan® lattice. The embedded grid punctuates the striking palette of glowing colors, giving the chair a highly graphic effect — a 21st century riff on the Bertoia classic.
Derived from the highly successful X3 stacking chair, the X3 Stool is flexible in application and style. The distinctive profile gives the seatback both strength and flexibility, while a wide range of colors offers the freedom to specify chairs that adapt to any space. Marco Maran is celebrated for designs that are light in spirit and flexible in application. Trained as an architect and industrial designer, he has already been the recipient of several design awards.

Knoll currently carries two chairs designed by Marco Maran, the Gigi and the X3¬. The Gigi—offered with or without arms, and with a swivel base, traditional legs or as a barstool — features a strikingly profiled polypropylene shell that achieves both strength and flexibility. The X3, an accomplishment in style and technology, uses a shell constructed of clear polycarbonate with an embedded grid, giving the chair an energetic and graphic aesthetic.
